Known for his straightforward style, Vij, who is contesting from the Ambala Cantt seat, hinted at his aspirations for the top job, subtly positioning himself as a frontrunner for the Haryana CM post.
Anil Vij Hints at Haryana CM Role: ‘I Am the Senior Most in BJP’
Talking to news agency ANI, Anil Vij confidently remarked his seniority in the party, stating that if the Haryana Assembly Elections 2024 result in a BJP victory, the decision on the Haryana CM post lies with the party’s leadership. However, he made it clear that, given his experience, he considers himself a strong contender. “If chosen, our next meeting will be at the Chief Minister’s residence,” Vij stated confidently.
With his signature enthusiasm, Anil Vij likened the elections to national festivals like Holi and Diwali. He expressed confidence in his chances, saying that the people of Ambala are backing him for another win. “The people of Ambala want peace, not chaos,” he remarked, believing that his consistent work for the constituency speaks for itself.
BJP and Congress Grapple with Internal Conflicts
The Haryana Assembly Elections 2024 haven’t been without internal turmoil for both the BJP and Congress. Factional conflicts, disagreements over ticket distribution, and rebel candidates switching parties have added to the drama. In Congress, tensions between former CM Bhupinder Hooda and Kumari Selja became so intense that Rahul Gandhi had to personally intervene to resolve the issue.
Rebel leaders who were denied party tickets either contested as independent candidates or switched sides. Both major parties, BJP and Congress, have expelled several dissenting members during this turbulent period.

- Palwal: 27.94% (highest recorded)
- Jind: 27.20%
- Mewat: 25.65%
- Yamunanagar: 25.56%
- Ambala: 25.50%
- Rohtak: 12.71%
- Bhiwani: 23.45%
- Charkhi Dadri: 20.10%
- Faridabad: 20.39%
- Hisar: 24.69%
These numbers reflect the voting activity till around 11 AM on the day of voting, and they may have changed as polling progressed.
