The Haryana government is set to launch a pilot project that aims to provide free transport facilities for students residing outside a 1km radius from government schools. Students on routes with a count exceeding 20 may benefit from Haryana Roadways buses, facilitating easier access to education for those in need.
Implementation Process: The school education department plans to allocate project funds to city blocks through school management committees (SMCs) as part of the pilot initiative. A designated transport officer will manage student applications, and schools will compile a list of eligible students residing beyond the 1km radius. This information, including student names, identities, routes, and cluster details, will be submitted to the school education department for further coordination.
Interim Transportation Measures: While waiting for Haryana Roadways buses, SMCs will arrange alternative transportation, such as autos, e-rickshaws, tempo travellers, maxi cabs, school vans, Sumos, and jeeps. District education officer Indu Boken Kasana has directed schools across Gurgaon, Sohna, Farrukh Nagar, and Pataudi to prepare lists of eligible students in all four educational blocks, ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive approach to the initiative.
