Haryana Assembly Election 2024: Speculation has intensified about wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia potentially entering the assembly elections. On Wednesday, both athletes met with Leader of Opposition and MP Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi. Congress shared a photo of this meeting on its official X handle, further fueling rumors.

It is now suggested that Vinesh might contest from the Julana seat and Bajrang from Badli, or one of them could enter the electoral race. Haryana Congress in-charge Deepak Babaria indicated that a decision on their candidacies would be made clear on Thursday.
Meeting with Rahul Gandhi Fuels Rumors; Congress to Clarify Candidates on Thursday
So far, Congress has announced 66 candidates, none of whom include Vinesh or Bajrang. After meeting with Rahul Gandhi, the wrestlers also consulted with Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal. Upon her return from Paris, Vinesh was warmly welcomed at Delhi Airport by Congress MP Deepender Hooda, who also joined her during the welcoming procession, accompanied by Bajrang Punia. This has heightened speculation about their potential candidacies with Congress.
Furthermore, Vinesh and Bajrang had also met Bhupinder Singh Hooda in Delhi, who remarked that anyone wishing to join the party would be welcomed. Congress sources suggest that Vinesh is considering the Julana and Dadri assembly seats as potential options.
