Haryana News: The Haryana government has taken precautionary measures by directing a 24-hour suspension of bulk SMS and mobile internet services in the Nuh district. This resolution, which takes effect at 6 p.m. on Sunday and ends at 6 p.m. on Monday, precedes the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra, which was violently interrupted the previous year.
According to the order issued by Haryana Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Anurag Rastogi, the suspension is a preventive measure to avoid potential tension, annoyance, and damage to public and private property. The order, influenced by feedback from the Additional DGP-CID, Haryana, and a Deputy Commissioner, aims to maintain public peace and tranquility in Nuh.
Preventing Misinformation and Ensuring Security
The goal of the internet service outage is to stop rumours and false information from spreading on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp. The administration intends to stop these services in order to avoid any disturbances like the one that occurred last year.
Nuh Police have assured the public of tight security arrangements to ensure the smooth passage of the Yatra. The authorities are determined to avoid a repeat of the violence that occurred on July 31 last year when a mob attempted to stop a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession by pelting stones and setting vehicles on fire. This violent episode resulted in the death of two home guards and injuries to at least 15 others, including several policemen.
Recalling the Past Violence
The unrest didn’t stop in Nuh; it spread to Gurugram the same night. A mob attacked a mosque, resulting in the tragic death of its naib imam. The interfaith clash led to the loss of at least six lives and left many injured.
