Haryana News: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has distributed ‘Happy Cards’ under the state’s new free bus service initiative. This scheme, part of the Haryana Antyodaya Parivar Parivahan Yojana (Happy Yojana), provides free bus travel up to 1000 kilometers annually for all members of economically disadvantaged families.
The free bus travel scheme targets citizens with an annual income of ₹1 lakh or less. Distribution of the new cards began today across all 36 depots and sub-depots in the state. To facilitate the process, a helpline number, 0172-5200600, has been established. Beneficiaries are required to fill out a form and pay a nominal fee of ₹50. After approximately 15 days, they can collect their mobility smart card or pass from the nearest Haryana Roadways bus depot. The total cost for obtaining the card is around ₹150.
Beneficiaries can download the application form for the ‘Happy Card’ both online and offline. The form is available on the Haryana Roadways website, hrtransport.gov.in. Applicants need to provide their registered mobile number, Aadhaar card, and family ID.
The process for online application involves the following steps:
- Visit the official website, hrtransport.gov.in.
- Click on the ‘Apply Happy Card’ link.
- Enter the PPP family ID.
- Verify the OTP sent to the registered mobile number.
- Fill in the required details and upload the necessary documents.
- After completing the process, an SMS will be sent to the registered mobile number with the issuance date of the Happy Card.
While issuing the Happy Cards, CM Nayab Singh Saini remarked, “The Haryana Antyodaya Parivar Parivahan Yojana (HAPPY) is a significant decision aimed at directly benefiting millions of families. This scheme not only provides free travel but also facilitates convenient transportation for economically weaker sections.”
This initiative follows similar schemes introduced in Karnataka and Delhi, where women have been offered free bus travel. The Haryana government’s move aims to enhance mobility and reduce travel expenses for low-income families, thereby contributing to their overall welfare.
