The Home Department in Haryana has once again revised the criteria for police recruitment, marking the third amendment following the concerns raised by Minister Anil Vij. In this latest modification, the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) has added its endorsement. The key changes include a significant emphasis on Haryana-related questions in the written examination.
Revised Police Recruitment Rules Highlights:
- Introduction of Localized Questions:
The third amendment ensures that the written examination, particularly the Reasoning (RT) exam, includes 20% questions related to Haryana’s politics, history, and culture. - Social and Economic Criteria Weightage:
Candidates will be evaluated based on social and economic criteria, with a provision to award 2.4 additional points. - Cabinet Approval in February:
The revised rules are expected to receive formal approval during the upcoming Cabinet meeting scheduled for February. - Recruitment on 6,000 Constable Posts:
With the Cabinet’s approval of the amended norms, the Haryana Police can proceed with the recruitment process for around 6,000 constable positions. - Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Endurance Test (PET):
Candidates qualifying for the written exam will be called for the Physical Measurement Test, and those succeeding will undergo the Physical Endurance Test, which includes running. - Merit-Based Selection:
The merit list will be generated based on the written exam, social and economic criteria, and performance in physical tests.
Challenges and Resolution:
The Haryana Police recruitment process had faced delays due to the challenges in finalizing the norms. With the latest amendments, the government aims to streamline the process and expedite the recruitment of approximately 6,000 male and female constables in the Haryana Police force. The changes seek to strike a balance between local knowledge and general aptitude, ensuring a fair and comprehensive selection process.
