Intense cold wave conditions persisted across Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday, marking a frigid spell for residents. Ballowal Saunkhri in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district registered a low temperature of minus 0.4 degrees Celsius, emphasizing the severity of the cold wave.
Dense fog blanketed various locations, including Mohali, Patiala, and Fatehgarh Sahib, causing reduced visibility and challenging travel conditions.
In Punjab, several cities recorded significantly low temperatures. Amritsar reported a chilling 5.4 degrees Celsius, while Ludhiana experienced a low of 3.3 degrees Celsius, a notable 2.7 degrees below the normal range. Patiala’s minimum temperature dipped to 3.1 degrees Celsius, marking a deviation of 4.1 degrees below the usual levels.
Severe Cold Grips Punjab and Haryana, Intense Cold Wave Conditions Persist
Other areas such as Pathankot, Bathinda, Faridkot, and Gurdaspur also grappled with the cold wave, registering temperatures at 4, 3, 3.5, and 3.5 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Chandigarh, serving as the common capital for both states, recorded a low temperature of 2.7 degrees Celsius, reflecting a substantial deviation of 4.7 degrees below the normal range.
In Haryana, Hisar emerged as the coldest location with a low of 1.1 degrees Celsius, marking a substantial 5.5 degrees below the normal temperature. Ambala and Karnal experienced the cold wave with temperatures at 4.4 and 3.2 degrees Celsius, respectively. Narnaul, Bhiwani, and Sirsa recorded minimum temperatures of 3, 3.9, and 4.2 degrees Celsius, contributing to the widespread cold conditions in the region.
