Himanta Biswa Sarma: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the culmination of the state’s two-week-long ‘Vikas Yatra,’ which commenced on February 29 and concluded in Hojai. During this period, the government distributed 42 lakh ration cards and 1 crore PM Ayushman Cards & CM Ayushman Cards, aiming to bolster welfare initiatives across the state. The yatra also witnessed significant visits from prominent leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, reflecting the central government’s commitment to Assam’s development.
Assam’s ‘Vikas Yatra’ Concludes with Massive Welfare Measures and Infrastructure Projects
The ‘Vikas Yatra’ saw the implementation of welfare measures amounting to Rs 23,000 crore, underscoring the government’s dedication to uplifting various sectors and communities in the state. The concluding day of the yatra marked the dedication of projects worth Rs 933 crore in Kamrup and Kamrup (Metro) districts. Chief Minister Sarma inaugurated the foundation stone laying for the upgradation of the Chaygaon-Ukiam road and performed bhumi puja for the construction of the Unity Mall in Betkuchi, among other initiatives.

Additionally, Sarma initiated the bhumi puja for the PM Gati Shakti Multi Modal Logistics Park and Railway Freight Terminal in Kamrup district. These projects are expected to revolutionize logistics and transportation networks in the region, facilitating enhanced multimodal connectivity and optimizing logistics costs for businesses and communities alike.
