Jyotiraditya Scindia: On Friday, Union Minister and BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia expressed his stand against engaging in retaliatory politics, emphasising that he held no personal grievances towards senior Congress leaders Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh. He also said that he is a player “Like Virat Kohli & Virendra Sehwag.”
In March 2020, Scindia spearheaded a rebellion in which 22 Congress MLAs crossed over to the BJP, leading to the downfall of the Kamal Nath-led government. Consequently, the BJP regained power with Shivraj Singh Chouhan assuming office. When asked about Rahul Gandhi’s statement regarding his standing within the BJP, Scindia refrained from comment and instead expressed gratitude to the Congress leader for sharing his opinion.

Emphasizing his commitment to concentrating on the present and the future, Scindia stated, “I play like Virat Kohli and Virender Sehwag. If I had not played like Virat and Sehwag, then 2020 (when the Congress government collapsed) would not have happened. I don’t want to dwell on my past.” He also put forward his assurance that the BJP would once again secure victory in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly election, slated to take place later this year.

Furthermore, he clarified that he had never aspired to become the Chief Minister and instead viewed himself as a key player dedicated to fostering the progress and advancement of Madhya Pradesh. Speaking on his ambition of becoming Chief Minister, he said, “I have never been in the race for the (chief minister’s) chair. Neither was I a chief ministerial candidate (earlier) nor am I today.”
Continuing further, he said, “Yes, I did contribute in the 2018 election. After the results were announced, the Congress high command told me that a decision had been taken to make Kamal Nath the Chief Minister. I also backed the decision. But, I was never a candidate for the chief ministerial post even then and not today either.” In a sharp criticism of the Congress, the party he was previously affiliated with before parting ways in 2020, Scindia asserted that a government characterized by “deceit and corruption” had been in power for a span of 15 months from 2018 to 2020.
