Indian Railways: In light of the ongoing Diwali festival and the upcoming Chhath Puja, Indian Railways has decided to temporarily suspend the sale of platform tickets at New Delhi and Anand Vihar railway stations. This move aims to manage the increased passenger traffic and ensure better crowd control on the platforms during the festive rush. The suspension of platform ticket sales will be effective from Monday (November 13) to Saturday (November 18), as per the announcement by Northern Railways.
Indian Railways Temporarily Halts Platform Ticket Sales Amid Festive Rush
This proactive measure comes as a response to the historical surge in passenger numbers during festive seasons, which has sometimes led to stampede incidents, causing casualties or injuries. The decision aligns with efforts to maintain a safe and organized environment at railway stations during peak travel periods.
Additionally, to accommodate the festive rush, Indian Railways is operating 32 special trains, including Vande Bharat, on the New Delhi-Patna route via Kanpur. The frequency of some trains has been increased to cater to the higher demand, enhancing convenience for passengers traveling for Diwali and Chhath Puja celebrations. The special trains include various types such as superfast, AC, reserved, unreserved, and Rajdhani trains, with extended services and additional trips planned for the festive season.
