Rohtak news: In Shri Kishan Khator’s office, newspaper clippings are framed and adorn one wall. The common thread running across all of these news stories is that Rohtak is one of the nation’s top producers of C-parts (crews, nuts, and bolts) for the automotive sector. According to one of the publications, Rohtak is the “king of the automobile parts industry.” This is not an exaggeration, Khator, the president of the IDC Industries Association in Rohtak, claims.
Automotive Fasteners Industry Thrives in Rohtak
“Over 2,000 factories in the city produce automotive fasteners, with a yearly revenue of almost ₹1,300 crore. We provide these components to automakers in Gurugram, Manesar, and Chennai,” he claims. Over the past ten years, Rohtak, one of Haryana’s fastest-growing cities, has become a centre for industry and education. The city’s real estate market is developing like never before, with several new townships being built along the motorways on the outskirts of the city, which is only 80 km from Connaught Place.

Booming Real Estate Market and Development Projects in Rohtak
Real estate prices in townships like Sun City have increased from ₹15,000 per square yard in 2018 to ₹60,000 per square yard at the moment, according to property broker Manoj Bahal. One of the most sought-after townships is The Sun City, which boasts of spacious, tree-lined streets, hospitals, and shopping centres. Some real estate agents have transitioned from being agents to developers as a result of the real estate boom. A real estate developer for more than ten years, Raveen Siwach founded Palm Abodes Buildcon and unveiled Florence Town, a 9-acre gated planned colony, as his debut project in March. Siwach has already begun organising his second endeavour, which he has provisionally named “Irish Garden.” The state government has implemented a number of road infrastructure projects, according to Bhupeshwar Dayal, the officer on special duty (OSD) to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, to improve connection to the city.
Driving Rohtak’s Automotive Components Industry
Laxmi Precision Screws (LPS) Limited is responsible for Rohtak’s growth as a centre of the automotive components industry, just as nearby Sonepat formerly became well-known for its now-defunct Atlas Cycle Factory. Bimal Prasad Jain, a local businessman, founded the company in 1968. It produced automotive and industrial fasteners, supplied major Indian automakers including Hero Honda and Maruti Suzuki, and exported its goods to the US, the UK, and Australia, among other nations. A large 3,700 acre industrial-cum-residential development created by HSIIDC, Rohtak’s Industrial Model Township (IMT), has also attracted some high-profile investments. More than twenty major corporations, including Asian Paints, Amul, Nippon Carbide India, and Lotte India Corporation, among others, have production facilities in this township. Maruti’s 600-acre research and development facility is the IMT’s centrepiece.
From Violent Protests to Urban Revitalization
The Jat community violently protested in Rohtak, renowned as the political centre of Haryana, in February 2016 to demand inclusion in the OBC category in order to receive accommodations in the labour market and in educational institutions. The city swiftly turned into a war zone as demonstrators torched dozens of structures, including hotels, schools, and police stations, and looted and ransacked other commercial facilities. Even though there was a curfew, the Army was stationed there, and shoot-on-sight orders were issued, the city was in total chaos for more than a month. Bloody, fiercely contested conflicts were widespread in Rohtak, which was previously known as the criminal capital of Haryana. A few of the area’s athletes have turned to a life of crime as well. Rakesh Mokhariya, a national-level gold medalist in wrestling who was detained in 2018 on suspicion of murder, is one well-known case from recent memory. The social hub of the city, D-Park in Rohtak’s Model Town neighbourhood, has seen a recent influx of hip cafes, bakeries, boutiques, and salons.
Rohtak’s Café Culture and Changing Dining Preferences
The Olive Bistro, one of the numerous brand-new cafés, is crowded with young people in the evening. Its founder, Rachna Bhatia, who studied fashion design in Italy, claims that she wasn’t sure this European-style café would succeed in a town like Rohtak when she first opened it. “At the moment, we need to expand since we are out of room. Numerous students visit us, particularly those from IIM and PGIMS. There are also a lot of wealthy locals who used to fly to Delhi to eat out, according to Bhatia.
