The Punjab police have beefed up security across the state ahead of the Jalandhar by-polls scheduled to take place on May 10 to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections, said Arpit Shukla, Special DGP, law, and Order.
Security tightened in Punjab
The DGP said that SSPs of border districts have been asked to seal the borders by installing inter-state mamas. Nobody in the state will be allowed to enter without a security check-up, he said. Apart from enhancing patrolling, police personnel along with paramilitary forces.
The Punjab police have also enhanced patrolling in the state. Police personnel along with paramilitary forces have also been carrying out regular flag marches, especially in vulnerable areas, as part of the confidence-building measures.
Employees can apply for special leave
The state government in an order on Monday said that any employee, who is a voter of the Jalandhar Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency and works in the state government offices, boards, or corporations and government can apply for a special leave to vote on May 10. However, they need to share their voter’s card with their respective authorities.
