In a significant move, the state of Jharkhand will witness the establishment of Integrated Public Health Labs in 24 districts, facilitated by the Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Scheme in the financial year 2023-24. Administrative approval from the Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, Arun Kumar Singh, has been granted to initiate labs in 12 district hospitals. Approximately Rs 19 crore has been sanctioned for these labs in various districts, marking a crucial step in enhancing healthcare infrastructure.
This initiative aims to streamline pathological tests, ensuring patients have convenient access to diagnostic services. The labs are expected to be operational by 2026, contributing to investigations related to communicable and non-communicable diseases. The integrated labs will bring together lab technicians from various programs, allowing for comprehensive testing services, including those for TB, Malaria, AIDS, Pathology, and other diseases.
District-wise Allocations for Lab Establishment:
- Seraikela-Kharsawan: Rs 1.71 crore
- Jamtara: Rs 1.78 crore
- Chatra: Rs 1.31 crore
- Dumka: Rs 1.45 crore
- Palamu: Rs 1.59 crore
- East Singhbhum: Rs 1.42 crore
- Koderma: Rs 1.46 crore
- Deoghar: Rs 1.55 crore
- Ranchi: Rs 1.62 crore
- Garhwa: Rs 1.57 crore
- Lohardaga: Rs 1.44 crore
- Ramgarh: Rs 1.97 crore
This strategic move aligns with the broader goals of the Ayushman Bharat Mission and signifies a concerted effort to enhance diagnostic capabilities and healthcare services in Jharkhand.
