In the midst of a political crisis in Jharkhand, legislator Sita Soren has voiced strong objections to any attempt to project Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s wife, Kalpana Soren, as a potential successor. The political turmoil arises from the Enforcement Directorate’s summons to the Chief Minister for questioning in connection with an alleged land scam. Sita, who is also the elder sister-in-law of Hemant, questioned the consideration of Kalpana for the CM post, emphasizing her lack of political experience and absence from a recent alliance legislators’ meeting at the CM’s residence.

Sita, a seasoned legislator with around 14 years of experience, expressed her disapproval, stating, “I will strongly protest any move to make her (Kalpana) CM.” She highlighted the presence of several senior leaders within the party who could be considered for the role. Notably, Kalpana Soren was not present at the recent meeting, leading to further speculation.
Hemant had dismissed speculations surrounding his wife’s potential candidacy for the Gandey assembly constituency
The disagreement within the Soren family comes after Hemant’s younger brother, Basant Soren, asserted the family’s unity on the issue, stating that decisions would be made in the best interest of the party and the state. Earlier, Hemant had dismissed speculations surrounding his wife’s potential candidacy for the Gandey assembly constituency, labeling it as the BJP’s imagination to create a false narrative.
