J&K News: Officials stated on Wednesday that a gangster was shot and killed after a shoot-out with police outside the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir. According to them, a special police officer was also hurt during the encounter, and probationary sub-inspector Deepak Sharma, who had head injuries, passed away on Wednesday while receiving treatment.
Gunfight at Government Medical College
Following a tip, a group of officers pursued mobster Vasudev, a prominent defendant in a murder case filed with the Ramgarh police station. This resulted in a gunfight outside the Government Medical College hospital on Tuesday at approximately 10.30 p.m., according to a police spokesperson. She also said that one of Vasudev’s associates was hurt in the encounter, and Vasudev was slain.
In addition to 40-year-old Special Police Officer Anil Kumar, Deepak Sharma also sustained injuries to his head. According to the statement, they were first admitted to GMC Hospital in Kathua and then transferred to Amandeep Hospital in Pathankot.

In a post on X, LG Manoj Sinha wrote, “I salute the valour & indomitable courage of PSI Deepak Sharma, who made supreme sacrifice while valiantly fighting & neutralising a most wanted gangster in Kathua. His supreme sacrifice will remain etched in our hearts. Deepest condolences to the family of martyr Deepak Sharma.”
He added, “The nation stands in solidarity with martyr’s family & @JmuKmrPolice, whose dedication, resilience & courage in battling variety of challenges & adversaries continue to inspire us. Every drop of blood of our martyr will be avenged and we are committed to create a fear-free J&K.”
