J&K News: In the River Jhelum in Srinagar on Tuesday, a boat carrying a number of people—including ten or twelve schoolchildren—overturned, resulting in the deaths of at least four people. India Today TV was informed by residents of the Batwara Gandabal neighborhood of the city that the boat overturned early in the morning.
Rescue Operations by Disaster Management Authorities
Four of the seven patients taken to the SMHS Hospital in Srinagar were pronounced dead, while the remaining three were receiving treatment, according to Muzaffar Zargar, the medical superintendent of the facility.
Deployment of State Disaster Response Force
As per the announcement from the disaster management authorities of Jammu and Kashmir, rescue activities are presently in progress with the deployment of a State Disaster Response Force team. The water levels of many water bodies in Kashmir, notably Jhelum, have increased as a result of the recent nonstop rain.
