Kanwar Yatra 2024 Traffic Alert! Delhi and Ghaziabad Brace for Pilgrim Surge, Check Advisory Before You Move Out

On July 22, the Kanwar Yatra, which ushers in the holy month of Sawan, causes major traffic problems in the National Capital Region. For the pilgrimage, the Delhi Traffic Police has marked off particular routes, such as the Apsara Border, the Shahdara Flyover, and others.

Kanwar Yatra 2024: The holy month of Sawan begins today i.e. July 22, and so does the Kanwar Yatra – a big pilgrimage for the devotees. With a view of the huge rush of Kanwarias (pilgrims) passing across Delhi NCR, both Delhi Traffic Police and Ghaziabad Traffic Police have issued detailed advisories to manage the expected congestion and smooth flow of traffic.

Kanwar Yatra Dates and Routes Announced

The noble minister has informed that Kanwar Yatris are now coming out on the roads from August 2 to August 9 to take holy water of Ganga, as per the tradition, and regarding this, Kanwarias have given a traffic advisory that the yatra will take place on the following major routes in Delhi. The following routes will the journey take: Apsara Border to Shahdara Flyover, Seelampur T Point, ISBT Flyover Boulevard Road, Rani Jhansi Road, Faiz Road, Upper Ridge Road, Dhaula Kuan, NH-8.

In Haryana, the foot march will proceed through Rajokri Border. Besides these places, the participants of this procession will also pass from Kalindi Kunj, Mathura Road, Badarpur Border, Modi Mill and return to Maa Anand Mai Marg and MB Road. It will further go via Bhopura Border, Wazirabad Road, Loni Flyover, Gokulpuri T Point, 66 Foota Road, Seelampur T Point, NH1 and then proceed via the new ISBT Bridge.

Precautionary Measures in Ghaziabad

Precautionary measures have been taken in Ghaziabad also. The Ghaziabad Traffic Police have announced major restrictions from Saturday midnight. All categories of autos are restricted from plying between Mohan Nagar and Vasundhara Flyover, and from Seemapuri Border to Lal Kuan. Autos also remain prohibited on National Highway No 34 (old NH-58) Kanwar Marg.

Those going towards the Hindon River, Kanabani, and Indirapuram from Meerut Tiraha would be diverted from the old bus stand via Chaudhary Mode and diverted via Vijay Nagar railway bridge through NH-09. These traffic advisories are aimed at facilitating this massive movement of pilgrims at a minimum level of hassles for daily commuters during this sacred period.
