Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, promised that the party’s five campaign pledges would be kept following the first cabinet meeting of the Karnataka government, which took place days after the party won the election and selected its Chief Minister. Gandhi argued that Congress keeps its word and doesn’t make empty promises. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Wednesday that the government had decided to carry out all five poll commitments. After conducting a pre-cabinet meeting in Bengaluru, he revealed this to the media, as reported by ANI.

These are the 5 promises
- Gruha Lakshmi: To every woman who is the head of a household, Rs 2,000 will be given each month.
- Yuva Nidhi: Each month, unemployed graduates would receive Rs 3,000, while unemployed diploma holders will receive Rs 1,500.
- Anna Bhagya: BPL families will receive 10 kg of rice per person each month.
- Gruha Jyoti: Every home in Karnataka will receive 200 free electricity units from the state’s new Congress administration.
- Sakhi programme: The government of Karnataka will give women free bus tickets to use while travelling throughout the state.
