Close Race Between Congress and BJP in Karnataka

Congress and BJP leaders are concerned about the results because exit polls show a tight race between the two parties. The JD(S) appears to be anticipating a hung jury, which could give them a chance to influence the formation of the government. While recognising the prospect of a hung Assembly in the state, the bulk of pollsters have given the Congress a modest advantage. The BJP won 104 seats in the previous elections, making it the single-largest party. The Congress came in second with 80 seats, and JD(S) came in third with 37 seats. The BSP and Karnataka Pragnyavantha Janatha Party (KPJP) both won one seat, and there was also one independent member.
