Durga Puja 2023: Countless individuals visit Kolkata’s distinctive pandals each year. The city is crowded with people and decked up in lights, whether they are natives, tourists from nearby locations, or visitors from other states. Annually, traffic guidelines are established and steps are done to manage the enormous number of pandal hoppers. All of this year’s adjustments are detailed here.
Navigating Durga Puja Crowds
Everyone wants to access pandals with the least amount of crowds and the shortest wait time in queue. However, at this time of year, such wishes remain just that—wishes. Even if we have no influence over the crowd, we can still make wise route choices and, to some extent, avoid the dense crowd. We are providing the relevant information here in order to address all of your inquiries.
Details Here
- Updates regarding traffic flow and road conditions have been made available from October 17 and will continue until October 24.
- Most of the roads closest to the pandals are off-limits to cars. It should be noted that the roads are only accessible by property line vehicles, as per a story published by The Telegraph India – My Kolkata.
- From October 17 to October 27, ordinary traffic in Kolkata is prohibited for vehicles carrying cargo.
- Keep in mind that this precaution is only implemented within the allotted times.
- Only at the specified times can emergency vehicles and certain vehicles transporting items weighing up to 1,600 kg follow vehicular movement.
- Parking is always an important consideration. There is little doubt that parking is prohibited along major thoroughfares, particularly during periods of high traffic or crowding.
- On important roads, cars might not offer amenities after 2:00 or 3:30 PM.
- All of the locations holding the largest pujas in Kolkata, whether in North or South, are seeing a lot of parking, vehicle, and transit constraints.
- Some of these rules may even alter as the traffic police take the appropriate action as needed.
- More police officers are working nonstop to ensure that guests have no problems. They are available at all times to help.
- There is just no room for disregarding the rules. If someone violates the guidelines, concerned authorities will act.

Kolkata Police’s Modern Approach to Aid Pandal-Goers During Durga Puja
ACP Said, “Kolkata Police and Kolkata Traffic Police always try to adapt modern ways to assist the people. Last year, we had public digital display boards that showed the number of real-time footfall in big pujas. This time, we had help desks at shopping hubs like New Market to assist people who were coming from all parts of Bengal.”
