Lucknow News: The process of bulldozing illegal houses in Lucknow has been started on Thursday, July 27. In the process, illegal houses constructed on the side of railway track near Katai Bridge in Sadar area of Lucknow are to be demolished.
Houses Demolished
On Thursday, about twelve illegal houses were bulldozed. Residents of these houses were informed to vacate the premises by the authorities. Despite the notice, when teams of Local and Railway Police began their operation, residents started to protest which created a lot of ruckus in the neighborhood.
Over many years, houses were illegally constructed over the land allotted to Railways. These illegally constructed houses extend from Vikramaditya Marg Crossing to Katai Bridge in the Sadar area of Lucknow. The Local Police along with Railway Police Force started bulldozing these houses. Regardless of the protest by the residents, authorities have demolished around 12 houses. On the requests of residents, another day extension has been issued to properly vacate these houses. The demolition drive that was halted on Thursday will restart again from Friday July 28.
Anti-Encroachment Drives in Lucknow
Authorities have recently demolished a shiv temple in Amarpali Yojna Vasant Kunj, Dugbagga. Police and Awas Vikas team was sent to remove the encroachment from the area belong to Gram Samaj. In the midst of the process; authorities are blamed to destroy a Shiv temple. The temple is said to be there for over 40 years.
Another 15 day long anti-encroachment drive was started by the Lucknow District Magistrate, Traffic Police and Development Authority in April. This operation was targeted towards the toll barriers, taxi and Rickshaw stands that were operating illegally. The drive was aimed on hoarding, markets and vendor to improve the deteriorating conditions of traffic.
