In a remarkable achievement, Ayan Jain, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, has emerged as the 16th rank holder in the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2023. After two previous attempts, Ayan has secured the coveted All India Rank (AIR) of 16, making him eligible to join the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
Ayan’s Perseverance and Strategic Approach
Ayan’s journey to success was not without its challenges. In his first attempt, he could not clear the Mains examination, but in his second attempt, he secured AIR 87 and was selected as an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer in the Madhya Pradesh cadre. Undeterred, Ayan persisted and, in his third attempt, he has now achieved the remarkable feat of securing the 16th rank.
“I credit my parents, my teachers, and my seniors for this. They have all played a very important role,” says Ayan Jain in a conversation with ANI. He further adds, “I analysed the exam, went through previous years’ questions, and then strategised my way forward. This was my third attempt so I obviously learnt from the mistakes I made in the first two.
Ayan’s Educational Background and Preparation Strategies
Ayan, who hails from Madhya Pradesh, completed his schooling from Delhi’s prestigious Sanskriti School. He further excelled academically, clearing the JEE Advanced 2017 with an impressive All India Rank of 237 and completing his Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.
During his UPSC preparation, Ayan utilized various resources, including the interview guidance program, current affairs modules, and mock interview preparation offered by Unacademy. He emphasizes the importance of consistent revision as a crucial part of his preparation strategy.
A Diverse Toppers List
Ayan’s achievement is part of a diverse and impressive UPSC CSE 2023 toppers’ list. This year, the top two ranks have been secured by male candidates, with Aditya Srivastava securing the coveted AIR 1 and Animesh Pradhan following closely with AIR 2. Notably, the third rank has been secured by a female candidate, Ananya Reddy, showcasing the growing representation of women in the prestigious civil services.
