Amid growing clamor for renaming the capital of Madhya Pradesh Bhopal, the name of Islam Nagar adjacent to it has been changed. Madhya Pradesh Revenue Department has issued a notification in this regard. With this, now the Gram Panchayat Islam Nagar located in Phanda district will be known by its old name Jagdishpur. The central government had already issued a notification in this regard.
Revenue Department Notification
On Wednesday, February 1, the Revenue Department has published the notification in the Gazette. It has been told that after the no-objection letter issued by the Union Home Ministry on 15 September 2022, the name of village Islam Nagar in Bhopal district is changed to Jagdishpur.
This notification has been issued by Additional Secretary Chandrashekhar Valimbe in the name and order of the Governor of Madhya Pradesh.
Demand was rising for 30 years
The demand to change the name of Islam Nagar has been raised for almost 30 years. About 17 years ago, the panchayat had written a letter to the government expressing its objection to the name Jagdishpur. Even after this, the local people’s representatives have been continuously demanding this.
In the year 2022, MP Pragya Thakur had also talked about working in this direction. After all, Jagdishpur got its old name after 308 years.
Shivraj will participate in the celebration of Panchayat
There is an atmosphere of celebration in the panchayat after the notification of the name change was published by the state government. Preparations are being made for organizing a big event here. Berasia MLA Vishnu Khatri, along with officials of the Archaeological Department and villagers have inspected the palace. Big gates have been installed on all the outer roads of the village. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will participate in this event.
