Madhya Pradesh: According to the police, a Congress leader in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, was detained on suspicion of disparaging Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers filed a complaint against Chandrashekar Patel on Friday evening, stating that he used profanity and made a disparaging comment about the chief minister during a protest the Congress organised near Satya Sai Square in Indore on Friday morning.

As Patel’s comments quickly gained popularity on social media, BJP members went to the police and reported him. The workers also chanted anti-Congress slogans. The BJP members urged that Congress employee Chandrashekhar Patel be punished in a memo they delivered to DCP (Zone-2) Sampat Upadhyay. Additionally, they urged that he be expelled from the area.

“A case has been brought against Congress leader Chandrashekar Patel and others under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 505 (2) (Statements conducing to public mischief), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), 294 (Obscene actions and songs), and 34,” DCP Upadhyay stated (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention). The situation is being looked into further. Chintu Chouksey, the leader of the opposition in the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), Councilor Raju Bhadauria, and others protested at Satya Sai Intersection in the district against LIC and SBI’s investment in the Adani Group.

A case under IPC Section 188 (Disobedience to order lawfully promulgated by public servant), according to officials, has been registered at the Vijay Nagar Police station as a result of the party leaders’ failure to acquire authorization for the protest. In conjunction with this, two leaders of the Congress, Raju Bhadauria and Chintu Chouksey, have been detained, they stated.
