Amid high demand of potato for manufacturing chips, the market observes drop in potato price. Manufacturer are looking for better availability and cheap price potato.
As summer season is coming up the manufacturer usually buys potato during
March-April.
This year Indore Choithram market witness drop in potato price. Traders says that potato price have lowered to 7- 10 per kg than the cost of cultivation.
Mohan Goud, a potato trader from Choithram mandi said, “Enquiries from chips manufacturers have gone up sharply because prices are trading low and availability of potato is very good in the spot market. Last week it supplied 3 truckloads of supplies to local chips manufacturers.”
Supplier Kailash Rawat said, “Companies are demanding more potatoes this season because prices are low and demand for chips is growing year-on-year. So far I have supplied to 5 units.”
