Hydrogen is a futuristic fuel, MP will lead in Green Hydrogen Production: Nitin Gadkari

Nitin Gadkari: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has lauded hydrogen as a “futuristic” fuel, predicting that Madhya Pradesh will become a leader in the generation of green hydrogen. He lauded Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the state’s agricultural success and expressed optimism that the same success could be achieved in green hydrogen generation.

Gadkari addressed a public audience while launching the Jan Ashirward Yatra in Khandwa, congratulating Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on the state’s seven-year streak of leading agriculture production in the country.

What did Nitin Gadkari say?

“The state is producing thermal, hydro, wind and solar power in a major way in the country. An electrolyser can be set up near the solar power facility to produce green hydrogen from water and I am confident that like agriculture, Madhya Pradesh will remain top in producing green hydrogen in the country which is futuristic fuel,” he said

“Rs 16 lakh crore the country is spending on importing fuel would go to farmers’ fields as they would produce green fuel in a major way,” he added.

He said that the state’s irrigation coverage has risen tremendously under the Shivraj Singh Chouhan administration.

Mr Gadkari described hydrogen as a futuristic fuel, claiming that the state has the potential to become the top state in green hydrogen, just as it is in agriculture under BJP leadership.

MP generates a lot of thermal, hydro, wind, and solar electricity, he says, adding that an electrolyzer can be constructed up near the solar power facility to generate green hydrogen from water.

Madhya Pradesh, like agriculture, has the potential to be the country’s largest producer of green hydrogen, he believes.
