Giving this information, Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav said that a total of 12 cheetahs are being brought from South Africa, in which 7 are male and 5 are female. These tigers are reaching India on 18 February. All these cheetahs will be brought to Kuno Sanctuary. Here they are being brought under a special contract. CM Shivraj will welcome
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that we will welcome these leopards here and then release them in their enclosure. During this, Union Minister Bhupendra Patel will also be present here. In the month of September last year, 8 cheetahs were brought to India from Namibia. On this occasion, PM Modi himself released these cheetahs in the enclosure. These cheetahs were dedicated to the nation on the occasion of PM Modi’s birthday. After 8 cheetahs, the second batch of 12 cheetahs is now coming to India. With this the total number of cheetahs will increase to 20.
All these cheetahs were medically checked in South Africa on Wednesday. After this they were fed food. Officials say that cheetahs eat only once in two to three days. So now they will directly eat food in India on 18th February. Due to not having much food in the stomach, they will not have any problem while traveling in the plane. A special Air Force aircraft has been sent from India to bring these cheetahs from South Africa. The aircraft will pick up these cheetahs from OR Tambo airport in South Africa and reach Gwalior airport on February 18.
