Lok Sabha Election 2024: Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and current Vidisha Lok Sabha candidate, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, addressed a press conference in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, where he countered allegations made by the Congress party regarding the state of democracy and the Constitution.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan Dismisses Congress Allegations

Chouhan rebuffed claims that democracy was endangered, asserting that the Constitution remains in safe hands. However, he expressed concerns over the situation within the Congress party, likening it to an endangered entity. Chouhan recounted his own experiences during the Emergency, highlighting his imprisonment at the age of 17 under the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s regime.

Asserts Constitution’s Safety

Taking aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Chouhan criticized what he deemed as inflammatory statements. He cited Rahul Gandhi’s remark suggesting that if the BJP were to win the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the country would be set on fire, describing such statements as erratic.

Chouhan’s remarks come amid heightened political tensions and exchanges between the BJP and Congress as the election season unfolds. His assertions reflect the ongoing narrative battle between the two major political parties in the lead-up to the elections.
