Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election 2023: In Bhopal, a group of Congress workers gathered outside the residence of the party’s State Chief, Kamal Nath, demanding changes in the candidates announced for the Narmadapuram, Seoni Malwa, and Rampur Baghelan seats. The protests reflect a sense of discontent within the party regarding candidate selections for the upcoming assembly elections scheduled for November 17.
Candidate Demands in BJP
In another instance, BJP supporters in Bhopal, backing former BJP MLA and ex-minister Umashankar Gupta, raised slogans in front of the state BJP president, VD Sharma. They called for the replacement of the party candidate, Bhagwandas Sabnani, who is contesting from the Bhopal South West constituency. Several BJP office-bearers from Bhopal Southwest wrote letters to the state unit chief, expressing their desire to field Umashankar Gupta as a candidate.

Resignation and Protests in BJP
KK Shrivastava, a former BJP MLA from Tikamgarh, resigned from the primary membership of the party due to his dissatisfaction with the ticket distribution. This protest within the BJP highlights a sense of discontent over the candidate selection process.
Supporters of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia
In Gwalior, supporters of BJP leader Munnalal Goyal, a staunch loyalist of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, staged a protest outside the Jai Vilas Palace. Their demonstration was in response to Goyal being denied a ticket in the upcoming elections. Union Minister Scindia visited the palace gate to express his solidarity with the protesters, reinforcing his support for Goyal.
BJP’s Response
State BJP spokesman Pankaj Chaturvedi downplayed the protests, stating that such sporadic demonstrations are a result of momentary excitement. He emphasized the commitment of BJP workers to nationalist ideology and the welfare of the poor, contrasting the situation with ongoing protests in the Congress camp over the past five days.
Congress Workers Express Dissatisfaction
Congress workers, particularly those supporting sitting Congress MLA Murli Morwal from Badnagar, staged a protest outside the Bhopal residence of MP Congress Chief Kamal Nath. The protesters demanded that the Congress replace its nominee, Rajendra Singh Solanki, from the Badnagar constituency. Furthermore, Congress workers from Govindpura in Bhopal and Kurwai in Vidisha also staged demonstrations at the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) office in Bhopal. These protests highlight a prevailing sense of dissatisfaction among Congress members regarding candidate selections.
