MP government to send 20,000 senior citizens on pilgrimage in the next two months

The Bharatiya Janata Party government in Madhya Pradesh will start this year’s special pilgrimage program for senior citizens from Saturday. Under this program, in the next two months, about 20,000 devotees will be taken for pilgrimage to various religious places. A government official has given this information on Friday.

Religious Yatra Scheme will continue till March 29:

State’s Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Dr. Rajesh Rajora said that from January 21 to March 29, 20 trains will run from different cities of Madhya Pradesh to take the elderly to different holy places of the country Will leave The Chief Minister Teerth Darshan Yojana was first started in 2012 absolutely free. In between it was temporarily closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. After MP, many other states have also started similar schemes, where assembly elections are to be held by the end of the year. Rajora said that the elderly would be able to visit Rameshwaram, Dwarka, Kamakhya, Shirdi, Jagannath Puri, Ayodhya and Kashi (Varanasi) under the pilgrimage scheme.

No age limit for more than 60 percent disabilities

According to the official, non-taxpayers of the state above 60 years of age are eligible for the pilgrimage program with a relaxation of 2 years for women. Under this scheme, the government makes arrangements for rail travel, breakfast, food, drinking water, accommodation and travel by bus, wherever necessary. He told that between January 21 and March 29, a total of 20,000 elderly devotees will go on pilgrimage. Apart from this, more such yatras will be started during the year. Not only this, no age limit has been kept for persons with more than 60 percent disability.
