MP News: Bhopal’s Mahila Police Station in Madhya Pradesh has achieved a significant milestone by becoming India’s first ISO-certified women-centric police station, certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This recognition underscores the police station’s transformation, as it has revamped its infrastructure and improved its facilities in recent years.
Mahila Police Station was known for its substandard conditions
The Mahila Police Station was known for its substandard conditions, including damp walls, inadequate toilets, and shabby rooms. However, it has made substantial improvements in recent years, following in the footsteps of the Misrod police station, which became the city’s first ISO-certified police station. The ISO certification, awarded on Wednesday, acknowledges the high standards and quality of services provided by the police station.
The renovations at the police station included the conversion of a warehouse into a sanitized space, providing separate rooms and computers for investigative officers and staff, and installing CCTV cameras. The station has also been designed to be “victim-friendly,” with a dedicated play area for children, more than five new toilets, and a feeding room for women.
The ISO certification is a testament to the station’s commitment to improving its services and facilities, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency. With this recognition, the Mahila Police Station in Bhopal aims to enhance public confidence in its ability to deliver effective policing services and promptly address the concerns of citizens.
Harinarayan Chari Mishra, the Bhopal Police Commissioner, and Shilpa Kaurav, the Station House Officer (SHO) at Mahila Police Station, were instrumental in the station’s transformation and in securing the ISO certification. This milestone is expected to promote better policing and provide an example for other police stations in the country.
