MP News: As the political campaign intensifies in Madhya Pradesh ahead of the state elections, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has made a notable commitment to the public. He has vowed that if the Congress is elected to power in the state, the government will purchase cow dung at the rate of Rs 3 per kilogram. Singh’s promise is inspired by the successful “Godhan Nyay Yojana” implemented by the Chhattisgarh government, which buys cow dung at Rs 2 per kilogram and transforms it into organic manure. This announcement was made during an event marking the conclusion of Computer Baba’s ‘Gau Mata Bachao Yatra’ in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district.
Singh underscored the party’s dedication to serving cows
In his address, Singh underscored the party’s dedication to serving cows and explained that the procured cow dung would be used to create organic fertilizer for farmers across the entire state. The overarching goal of this initiative is to promote organic farming.
The “Godhan Nyay Yojana” was introduced in Chhattisgarh in July 2020 and has gained substantial popularity, benefiting cattle rearers, village communities, and cow dung sellers. According to the Chhattisgarh government, the scheme has disbursed over Rs 155 crore to date.
Madhya Pradesh is gearing up for elections scheduled for November 17, and the results will be announced on December 3. Singh’s promise reflects the party’s efforts to address rural and agricultural issues, appealing to farmers and those involved in cattle rearing.
