MP News: In a bid to overcome the challenges of acquiring agricultural land near urban areas, the Madhya Pradesh government is introducing an innovative approach by establishing factories in high-rise buildings. This new initiative, termed as “High-Rise Flatted Industrial Areas,” will allow multiple industries to operate within a single building.

Project Locations Identified

The government has chosen Mandideep, near Bhopal, as the initial site for this project, with 25 acres of land allocated for construction. Additionally, locations have been identified in Pithampur, Indore, and Ujjain, the hometown of Chief Minister Mohan. Ujjain will see the construction on 29 acres, while suitable land is being scouted in Pithampur for two buildings. The government’s goal is to provide space for entrepreneurs looking to establish factories with minimal land and cost requirements. This concept is already in practice in major cities like Surat and Mumbai.

Boost for Various Industries

The high-rise industrial buildings are expected to boost sectors such as textiles, electronics, and auto components. These structures will be built following the Green Building Code, featuring solar panels on rooftops and large windows to maximize natural light and reduce electricity consumption. The design will resemble that of a shopping mall, with separate elevators and wide staircases for workers. Each floor will have facilities like restrooms, drinking water, and a canteen for laborers.

Logistics and Accessibility

Special elevators capable of transporting small vehicles will be installed to facilitate the movement of goods. A gallery for larger vehicles will also be incorporated, making it easier to accommodate diverse industries in one location. Currently, industries such as furniture, plastic, toys, and pharmaceuticals face challenges in securing land in one place.

Benefits Beyond Land Use

A government official, speaking to the media, revealed that two such buildings are proposed for Pithampur, with 29 acres of land identified in Nagjhiri, near Ujjain. This project is expected to not only conserve land but also help reduce pollution. Furthermore, it will promote small industries and create new employment opportunities, making it a significant step forward for industrial development in Madhya Pradesh.
