MP News: In a concerning incident, more than 100 children fell ill due to suspected food poisoning at the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Officials reported that the affected students presented symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and cold.
Medical professionals at the hospital promptly initiated treatment upon the arrival of the students, with some receiving intravenous drips to address their conditions. However, a few students experienced shivering as a result of the intravenous treatment, leading to the suspension of their drips.
Approximately 100 children were admitted
Dr. RKS Dhakad, the Superintendent of the Hospital in Gwalior, stated that they received information about the incident on the previous evening and immediately prepared for the influx of patients, providing beds and necessary facilities. Approximately 100 children were admitted, all of whom are receiving treatment, primarily for symptoms resembling food poisoning. Dr. Dhakad mentioned that the conclusive cause could only be determined after testing the food consumed.
Thankfully, there have been no reported fatalities in connection with this incident. However, one child remains in serious condition and is on a ventilator, while five to six others are also considered quite serious. The admitted children’s ages range from 18 to 25 years.
Notably, the management of LNIPE has not provided any official statement or explanation regarding the students’ illness, leaving questions about the circumstances surrounding the incident unanswered.
