MP News: Madhya Pradesh is now experiencing severe heat, with the Gwalior-Chambal area particularly afflicted. On Saturday, Datia reported a scorching 47.2 degrees Celsius, while Gwalior reached 45 degrees. Several locations had temperatures ranging from 43 to 44 degrees, and similar conditions are expected on Sunday. The Meteorological Department has issued a four-day heatwave advisory for the Gwalior-Chambal area and Nimad districts.
Intense Heat in Northwestern Madhya Pradesh
There is a lot of heat in Madhya Pradesh’s northwest, which includes places like Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, and Shivpuri. These regions saw temperatures reach beyond 45 degrees Celsius on Saturday. According to the Meteorological Department’s prediction, on May 21, hot winds will continue to blow across these areas, resulting in an extreme heatwave.
Cyclonic Circulation and Trough Line Effects
The weather is being influenced by a trough line that is going across the region and a cyclonic circulation over northeast Rajasthan, according to the Bhopal Meteorological Department. Madhya Pradesh is also experiencing a western disturbance, which is causing extreme heat in certain areas and rain and thunderstorms in others. It is anticipated that this trend will hold for the upcoming days.
Mixed Weather in Eastern and Southern Madhya Pradesh
On the other hand, the state’s eastern regions, which include Chhindwara, Seoni, Mandla, and Pandhurna, are having a combination of scorching days and evening clouds. It even drizzled lightly in some places on Saturday. On Sunday, extreme heat will occur in the northwest, with clouds and showers expected in the eastern and southern areas. There is a lot of heat in Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain as well.

- May 20: A heatwave alert has been issued for Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Shivpuri, Niwari, Ashoknagar, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Khargone, Khandwa, and Burhanpur. Light rain is possible in Chhindwara, Pandhurna, and Seoni.
- May 21: Hot winds will affect Khargone, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Sheopur, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, and Chhatarpur.
- May 22: Another heatwave alert is in place for Gwalior, Sheopur, Bhind, Morena, Datia, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Khargone, Khandwa, and Burhanpur.
