MP news: After Yashodhara Raje Scindia announced she will not contest in the upcoming assembly elections, specticulation began to circulate that her nephew, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, would take her Shivpuri seat.
Addressing a gathering in Shivpuri Thursday, Yashodhara said, “I had resolved earlier that I was not going to contest elections. I want to thank you all. In a way, this is my goodbye. I have always tried to follow the footsteps of my mother, Rajmata Raje Scindia. It was with her inspiration that I took this decision. Today I pray to all of you that you all will support me in this decision.”
She continued by saying that a new generation should go forward because time had passed. The action comes in response to a letter she wrote to the BJP’s top leadership in August outlining her decision not to run in the elections scheduled for this year’s end.
Health Issues:
According to state BJP leader V D Sharma, Yashodhara is taking a break because of health concerns.
However, BJP insiders are trying to understand the party’s strategies for the Shivpuri district. Particularly because of the BJP’s plan to insert Union ministers into the MP race to counter the alleged “anti-incumbency” against the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led administration, specticulations have gained traction in the party.
“There are chances that Jyotiraditya Scindia may also be fielded from either her (Yashodhara) constituency or a neighbouring constituency. The state leadership is waiting for the next list. The issue will be cleared then. Anything is possible,” a senior state BJP leader said.

About Jyotiraditya Scindia:
Jyotiraditya made his political debut in 2002 by winning the Guna Lok Sabha byelection that was required owing to the passing of his father, senior Congress leader Madhavrao Scindia. Since then, he has not run for an Assembly seat.
From 2002 to 2019, Jyotiraditya served as a Congress MP for Guna. He switched to the BJP in 2020, at which point he was elected to the Rajya Sabha.

The youngest daughter of Jivajirao Scindia, the previous ruler of Gwalior, and Vijayaraje Scindia, a well-known BJP activist, Yashodhara is in charge of the ministries of sports, youth welfare, technical education and skill development, and employment in the Chouhan administration.
In 1998, she entered politics and was elected to the Shivpuri Assembly. In 2003, she kept her seat and was sworn in as a minister for the first time.
