MP Weather Update: After a brief respite from heavy rains, the Meteorological Department has issued warnings of more heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh from September 21 to 23. Meteorologists have reported the formation of another cyclonic weather system in the Bay of Bengal, leading to a low-pressure area near West Bengal and Orissa. This weather system may bring heavy rain to several cities in Madhya Pradesh, including Bhopal, Indore, Rewa, Chambal, and Gwalior divisions during September 22 and 23.
Concerns have arisen
Despite the recent rains, the state is still experiencing a rainfall deficit. The expected rainfall from June 1 to September 19 was 914 mm, but only 904.8 mm of rainfall has been recorded, which is 1 percent less than the normal quota. The Meteorological Department previously anticipated that the normal rainfall quota would be met in a day or two, but the sudden cessation of rain activity prevented this from happening. Concerns have arisen due to a 20 percent deficit in rainfall compared to the average in Bhopal this season.
Recent rainfall has been recorded in only three districts, with Khandwa receiving the most at 41 mm, along with rain in Jabalpur and Khajuraho.
Despite the temporary relief, Madhya Pradesh may still face significant rainfall in the coming days, leading to potential flooding and other related concerns.
