Patrakar Bima Yojana: The Madhya Pradesh government has announced that it will bear the burden of increased premium rates under the Journalist Insurance Scheme. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav declared that journalists in the state will continue to pay the same premium as in previous years, despite the hike introduced by the insurance company.

Addressing the concerns raised by various journalist organizations regarding the increase in premium, the Chief Minister assured that the state government is committed to supporting journalists. “Journalists, the fourth pillar of democracy, work tirelessly under challenging conditions to serve society. The government stands with them at every step,” said Dr. Yadav.

Additionally, the deadline for submitting applications for the Journalist Insurance Scheme has been extended from September 20 to September 25, 2024, allowing more time for journalists to complete the necessary formalities.

The government’s decision to absorb the increased premium costs highlights its ongoing commitment to the welfare of journalists in the state.

State Government’s Support for Journalists

The decision to cover the increased premium costs reflects the Madhya Pradesh government’s recognition of the critical role that journalists play in upholding democracy. Journalists often face harsh working conditions and risk their lives to bring accurate news to the public. By ensuring that they are not burdened by additional financial costs, the government aims to provide them with the necessary security and peace of mind.

Extension of Application Deadline

To facilitate greater participation in the Journalist Insurance Scheme, the state government has extended the deadline for submitting application forms from September 20 to September 25, 2024. This extension will allow more journalists to benefit from the scheme, which covers health and life insurance, providing a safety net for their well-being.
