Radio collars of 6 cheetahs at Kuno National Park removed

After the continuous death of cheetahs in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park, the administration seems to be very alert. Two South African cheetah experts have also visited India to assist the authorities with the cheetah deaths.

These experts had prominently raised the issue of radio collars among the reasons behind the death of cheetahs. Regarding which the forest department has investigated. According to the latest news, wildlife officials said that at least two cheetahs in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park have been treated for severe infection after their radio collars were removed. These two cheetahs are among the six cheetahs that have been brought back to their enclosures after the death of two cheetahs on 11 and 14 July.

Madhya Pradesh’s former chief wildlife warden JS Chauhan also suggested removing these devices, saying he suspected they were causing infection in cheetahs.

South African cheetah experts warned

Two South African cheetah experts told The Indian Express after the increasing number of incidents that radio collars can cause problems. Days before he was removed from his post, JS Chauhan, former chief wildlife warden of Madhya Pradesh, had also suggested removing these devices, saying he suspected they were causing infection in cheetahs.
