Raja Pateria arrested over “kill Modi” remarks

Congress leader Raja Pateria is in limelight for his controversial statement on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Raja Pateria has been embroiled in controversies by allegedly making a provocative statement about the ‘murder’ of PM Modi. Senior Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Raja Pateria was heard in a viral video purportedly saying that people should be ready to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi to save the Constitution.

BJP leaders and supporters have expressed strong opposition to this statement. Raja Patria has been arrested. However, Congress leader Patria has clarified that his statement was meant to defeat PM Modi.

Who is Raja Patria?

Raja Pateria is a senior leader of the Madhya Pradesh Congress. Earlier he has also been an MLA and a minister. He had won from Hatta assembly constituency in 1998. From 1998 to 2003, he was a cabinet minister in Digvijay Singh’s government. Presently Pateria is the Vice President of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee. In 2014, Raja Pateria also contested the Lok Sabha elections from Khajuraho seat of MP but lost to BJP’s Narendra Singh.

Patria is a farmer by profession

According to the election affidavit of Congress leader Raja Pateria, his and his wife’s occupation is agriculture. He is the owner of property worth crores. His assets were said to be more than Rs 5 crore. He has studied up to BSc second year from Mahakoshal Science College, Jabalpur.

What was said about PM Modi?

In the purportedly viral video, Congress leader Raja Pateria Video was seen addressing a small gathering in a rural area, in which he says, “PM Modi will divide people in the name of religion, caste and language. The future of minorities and tribals is in jeopardyIf you want to save the Constitution, be ready to ‘kill’ Modi.” He described himself as a leader following Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology of non-violence.
