As part of the party’s election preparations, Congress will conduct a survey on the efficacy of MLAs every month till the dates for the Assembly elections are announced and would share the results with the MLAs, according to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday.
Gehlot cited a recent survey, saying that while it proved his cabinet will return to the state, it also revealed that some MLAs’ “condition is not good.” The MLA should be aware of their position, he claimed. “Now the party will conduct a survey of Assembly seats every month under the supervision of the state in-charge. The report will be shared with the MLAs concerned as well. Congress will prepare its strategy on this basis of this (survey),” said Gehlot to reporters after reaching Delhi in the evening.
Gehlot claimed that each MLA in Jaipur freely shared their opinions when asked for input. “If there is any deficiency, we can improve upon it. This will be our process ahead. We are taking each MLA into confidence,” he said.
Many MLAs themselves accepted that their condition is not good
“Many MLAs themselves accepted that their condition is not good. They said they are trying (to improve). Sometimes there is no mistake, but a perception is created, and sometimes false allegations are made by BJP,” Gehlot said.
“No MLA complained about the work (of the government). It is very rare that MLAs do not complain even after four years and a quarter. The MLAs also said that an atmosphere has been created in the general public that the government is going to be repeated,” said the Chief Minister.
“I got a survey done. It has come out in the survey that the government is repeating. The process of changing the government will not happen this time. This is a symbol of the fact that work has been done on good governance,” added CM Gehlot.
“Previous experience tells that whenever BJP governments were formed, our (Congress) good schemes were stopped. Projects like the refinery were halted, which was why the project cost escalated to Rs 70,000 crore from Rs 40,000 crore. That is why we say again and again that our government needs to be repeated,” he said.
Gehlot on Sachin Pilot issue said, “There are small differences in all parties, and they get resolved with the passage of time.”
