Terror alert over Bageshwar Dham chief’ visit to Patna, district administration issued alert

In response to information provided by the special branch of the state home department, the Patna district control room has issued an alert before to the visit of self-styled godman Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, also known as Bageshwar Dham Sarkar.

At the location of the ‘Hanumant Katha recitation and Darbar’, which is planned to take place in a village under the Naubatpur police station in Patna, appropriate force as well as round-the-clock rostered deployment of magistrates and police officers has been ordered. The beefing up has been justified by expected foot traffic, including VVIPs.

On Monday of last week, Danapur SDPO conducted a preliminary assessment of the security requirements, following which a warning was issued.

Events like this could be challenging, according to a warning from the Patna District Control Room, as terrorist groups may target them to cause collateral damage, including damage to lives using improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

On Friday, Bihar ADG (HQ) Jitendra Singh Gangwar gave the media the reassurance that all security resources at the state police headquarters had been activated to maintain peace and tranquilly throughout the planned visit.

According to ADG (HQ) Jitendra Singh Gangwar, the standard operating procedure (SOP) intended for big crowd gatherings has been invoked.

According to him, the SOP is equally valid for both religious and non-religious crowd gatherings, and it requires the district government to work with the organisers to help them carefully assess the throng’s arrival and take any necessary safety measures.
