Magnitude 5.5 Earthquake Strikes Kargil, Sends Tremors Across Borders into North India and Pakistan

Ladakh Earthquake: North India and some areas of Pakistan experienced tremors on Monday following an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 that struck Kargil in Ladakh. The National Centre for Seismology reported that at 3:48 p.m., a 5.5-magnitude earthquake occurred.

Depth of the Earthquake

The National Centre for Seismology estimates that the earthquake occurred 10 kilometres below the surface of the earth. The earthquakes were felt in Islamabad, Pakistan, as well as a few other nearby locations. A 4.0-magnitude earthquake occurred in Pakistan earlier today.
