On January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami), the 13 Akhadas of the nation will perform three Shahi Snans, or royal baths. On Saturday, Vijay Vishwas Pant, the divisional commissioner of Prayagraj and the head of the Prayagraj Mela Authority (PMA), along with Bhanu Bhaskar, the additional director general of police, and Vijay Kiran Anand, the mela adhikari for the Makkumbh Mela, presided over the first meeting between representatives of the 13 Akhadas and the PMA. Anand emphasised the plan to build seven distinct riverfronts that would total 13.25 km in length. According to him, these are being created to increase Prayagraj’s grandeur in light of the Mahakumbh in 2025. Seven ghats are also being built in this order, with funding from the National Mission for Clean Ganga and full public amenities, which will aid in the operation of boats and safe bathing for visitors and worshippers. To further promote tourism in the district, work is being done in this order on the Akshayavat, Patalpuri, and Saraswati Koop corridors, as well as on the landscaping, signage, and entrance gate.
