The city administration has successfully implemented a sewerage pipeline network across nine wards (One, Two, Three, Four, Five, 32, 33, 34, and 35) at a cost of 218 crores. This extensive project covers the majority of neighborhoods in the city, aiming to connect residences to the sewer lines for the proper disposal of wastewater. The Municipal Corporation of Ranchi has recently issued a tender for the next phase, estimating a project cost of 4.58 crores. This phase will focus on linking the sewage lines from homes to the Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) located in the Lem Basti area, facilitating direct and efficient waste management.
Major Sewerage Infrastructure Upgrade Underway in City Wards at a Cost of 218 Crores
The completion target for the task of connecting household sewer pipelines to inspection chambers has been set at nine months. Upon completion, residents will be relieved from the hassles of septic tank maintenance, as the collected wastewater will be directly transported through the pipeline to the STP. The recycled water will then be released into the river, contributing to environmental sustainability, while the solid waste from the drying beds will be repurposed as fertilizer.
Notably, certain areas, such as Bariyatu Road, Kanke Road, and Ratoo Road, are yet to receive sewer pipeline installations due to the unavailability of No Objection Certificates (NOC) from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The decision to abstain from laying pipes in these crucial roads is strategic, as disrupting traffic flow during the ongoing construction of flyovers in three different locations across the city could exacerbate existing traffic issues. The focus remains on ensuring the seamless execution of vital infrastructure projects while maintaining optimal traffic management during this period of development.
