Karnataka: In response to an increase in COVID cases worldwide caused by the new variation BF.7, the Karnataka government today released new instructions for the celebration of the new year. In Karnataka, wearing a mask is now required in all enclosed areas, including bars, restaurants, theatres, schools, and institutions. In this state, New Year’s celebrations can last until one in the morning.
“There’s no reason to freak out. But going forward, we must be cautious, “K Sudhakar, the Karnataka health minister, warned.
The government stated that pregnant women, children, old people, and individuals with health difficulties should avoid public gatherings, and that during events held behind closed doors, the number of attendees shouldn’t exceed the number of seats provided.
In schools, using hand sanitizers, using face masks, and receiving all recommended vaccinations will be required.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai clarifies that steps would be taken without harming the general populace’s economy
Today, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai made it clear that preventative and precautionary steps to stop the Covid pandemic’s spread would be undertaken gradually without harming the general populace’s economy.
Speaking to reporters on Monday at Suvarna Soudha in this city, he said the state cabinet had discussed the Covid pandemic and had made the decision to further consult the members of the Technical Advisory Committee in order to raise public awareness, increase vaccination rates, test for cases of influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infections (SARI), make masking required inside and in public, and implement other preventive measures in a phased manner.
When asked if there will be distinct restrictions for New Year’s celebrations, the Chief Minister responded that there would, just like the previous two years. More guidelines will be added to the current ones if Covid cases increase. Precautionary measures, however, will be adopted gradually so as not to interfere with people’s daily lives or the economy.
Today at 4 p.m., the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will participate in a virtual discussion to discuss Covid awareness, preparedness, and situation.

State Assembly’s current session in Belagavi is crucial
The state Assembly’s current session in Belagavi, according to Mr. Bommai, should be productive and significant. He said, “Issues pertaining to the North Karnataka region must be discussed for a long time. The Opposition parties are going to discuss many issues, and the government is ready to debate or discuss anything.”
The Chief Minister stated that due to incomplete discussions on a number of topics with the central leadership, he is departing for New Delhi this evening.
“So, the BJP National President JP Nadda has called a meeting again, which Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several party leaders will attend. All issues, including preparation for the coming Assembly polls, cabinet expansion, and filling up of vacant minister’s posts, will come up for discussion,” after the meeting, he would go back to Belagavi and attend tomorrow’s legislative session, he said.
According to BS Bommnai, he will also meet with union ministers to discuss state development projects.
