Fire in Agra mall: A massive fire broke out at Nand Plaza, the lone shopping mall in Agra’s Cantonment region on Monday. Though no casualties were reported in the incident, property worth several crores was destroyed in flames. Multiple establishments were gutted in the incident, reports said. The fire erupted at 5.30 am, before the mall opened and perhaps that prevented any casualty.
A dozen fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the flames were brought under control after hours of effort. A large gym and a Pizza Hut outlet inside the plaza were completely destroyed in the fire.
Short circuit caused fire
According to Chief Fire Officer DK Singh, it appears that the fire was caused by a short circuit. He added that the fire had spread to the 3rd floor of Nand Plaza. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
According to reports, the mall was functioning without an NOC from the fire department. The Cantonment Board and the fire department are likely to take action against the mall owners.
