The notification for the upcoming Mayor elections in Delhi will be issued tomorrow, April 12th. On Monday, an MCD official said that candidates will be allowed to file nominations once the notification is issued. The process of filing nominations may end on April 18. The voting for the Delhi MCD polls is suspected to be held on April 26.
MCD notification for mayor polls out tomorrow
The notification for upcoming MCD polls will be issued tomorrow, April 12. The candidates will be able to file nominations once the notification is issued, an MCD official said.
“We have finalised the dates and done all the preparations. After issuing notification, we will invite political parties to submit nominations and these names can be withdrawn before the house meeting called for the mayoral elections on April 26,” an MCD official said.
“Councillors who have filed their nominations for the mayor and deputy mayor posts can’t be nominated as the presiding officer. We will send the file on April 18 r 19 to the LG office to nominate the presiding officer,” the official added.

Shelly Oberoi expected to be AAP’s mayor candidate
Shelly Oberoi was elected the mayor of Delhi on 22 February. She defeated Rekha Gupta of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of 34 votes. Shelly Oberoi got 150 votes out of total 266 votes. While Gupta got 116 votes. AAP is expected to propose her name for the position once again.
AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj on Sunday said Election for the ploy of Mayor of MCD will be held on April 26. Bhardwaj, who is a nominated member of MCD, said, “It is necessary to conduct the election in April. Incumbent Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi has set April 26 as the date for this.”
“I hope for the election to be held in a peaceful manner if all rules and regulations are followed by the LG office,” he added.
