The outcome of the six Standing Committee member elections that have been delayed since February 24 could be made public soon. This outcome won’t be released until the mayor has signed it. The process of creating ward committees and ultimately the standing committee may begin quickly once the results are announced. However, a conflict could arise even after the voting process has begun due to the Supreme Court’s pending decision on the appeal of the Alderman appointment case. According to sources, the mayor’s office received the file from the corporate secretary’s office so that it could announce the results on May 26. The file contains information on the conclusion prepared by the technical committee on February 24 using the High Court’s decision as support.
MCD Standing Committee to be announced soon
It has been suggested that six out of the seven candidates could be declared the winners in this. Now it must be signed by the mayor. According to experts, it is not necessary to call a House meeting in order to announce the findings. Only the mayor’s signature survived since she served as the returning officer for that election. In this case, the outcome will be regarded as stated when she signs. The corporate secretary’s office will have to make this information public following the mayor’s signature. The first members of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s Standing Committee are chosen from the House as part of the election process. Six members were elected under this on February 24. Following the election, there was a disagreement between the AAP and the BJP on the mayor’s cancellation of a vote. This resulted in the case also making it to the High Court. On May 23, as it was rendering its judgment, the High Court revoked the Mayor’s directive to re-elect the six members of the Standing Committee.
MCD House meeting on June 8
The House will meet on June 8th to conduct a meeting for the month. In the House meeting on June 8, approval will also be given for the election of Ad-hoc Committees and Special Committees. Since the corresponding proposal was approved at the last meeting. The election process will now begin for that house after the approval of the meeting’s minutes. Councilors will have the chance to take over as chairman and vice chairperson of roughly 26 distinct committee from members.
