The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has issued an appeal for the resident of the national capital to take necessary precautions in the wake of the ongoing rainy season which has led to the breeding of mosquitoes, posing a risk of many diseases.
Delhi Mayor’s advisory
In an appeal, Delhi mayor Shelly Oberoi said Delhiites to beware of vector-borne diseases such as dengue, chikungunya, and malaria.
“Protect yourself from vector-borne diseases by not allowing stagnation of water on rood, houses and neighbourhood, a sprinkling of diesel/petrol or tempos granules in accumulated water, changing the water of cooler, tank and using mosquito repellent, spray etc,” she said.
Fogging is to start early this year in Delhi
This year, fogging will start early this year, especially in the low-lying areas and hotspots.
“Usually, we start fogging from August onwards but this time due to heavy rain in July we are expecting mosquitoes breeding to increase after 8-10 days. To control the problem, we have decided to start fogging after a week,” an MCD official said.
The civic body has reported 14 dengue cases in the city, taking the cumulative total to 136.
